When it opens it doors in August 2017, Another Place, The Lake promises to be one of the UK’s most exciting family hotels. A relaxed, convivial hotel from where you can explore the great outdoors, it’s a place for coming together round a table or fire pit, or for going it alone on a walk in the hills. It’s about days spent splashing about in the lake before drying out on a sofa with a book. It’s about the good things in life – having fun, eating well, letting go.
Set on the shores of Ullswater – the second largest lake in England – in 18 acres of Lake District National Park, the hotel takes inspiration from its surroundings. At the heart of the hotel are good food, fresh air and relaxation. From the pool with the lake view to the blend throughout of old and new, the hotel connects you with the elements with no compromise on style or comfort.
Woven into the landscape are 40 bedrooms, including a number of family suites and dog-friendly rooms. Stylish and comfortable, rooms mix original and historic features with simple lines and modern accents. Swim Club includes treatment rooms, an outdoor hot tub and a lake view swimming pool. There will be two restaurants where the food makes the most of outstanding local produce and the hotel’s own vegetable patch and herb garden. Enjoy casual meals in The Living Space to dinner in the restaurant and summer drinks on the terrace.
Why families love it
All the family can make themselves at home here. Everyone can use our grounds for outdoor adventure, while our dedicated, Ofsted-registered, kids’ space includes an outside play and woodland area. From there, we run supervised kids’ sessions, including activities, crafts and forest skills.
